The next selection for the Pioneer Page Turners Book Club will be 11/22/63 by Stephen King.
On Nov. 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was riding in a motorcade through Dallas when he was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald. The murder left a deep impact on the nation, and nearly 50 years later, it remains an event rife with questions and controversy.
In 11/22/63, baby-boomer King addresses the wistful desire to turn back time and make everything right again. In 2011, Maine school teacher Jake Epping discovers a time portal to 1958, and what begins as an attempt to help change the life of one of his students morphs into a mission to kill Lee Harvey Oswald in the hopes that Kennedy’s second term as president will head off the turbulent times to come.
The book was released Nov. 8 and is currently in the top five of the New York Times bestseller list.
