The Hadassah North Shore Chapter held their annual Book & Author Luncheon on April 18 at the Highland Park Country Club.

The guest speaker was Goldie Goldbloom, award-winning author and professor at Northwestern University. Ms. Goldbloom spoke of her life and the people she knew in Australia that influenced her into writing the book “The Paperbark Shoe.”

The audience of 200 people were entertained by her light-hearted accounting of events and the family history when Italian prisoners of war of WWII were sent to Australia to be laborers.

The afternoon raised $2,000 for medical research at Hadassah hospitals.

Co-chairmen for this annual Spring event were Michele Solomon of Buffalo Grove and Barbara Turek of Northbrook. Chapter President is Michele Rubin of Northbrook.
