The 13th annual Golf for a Child Invitational Tournament, sponsored June 18, by CASA Lake County netted the organization $110,000. This brings the total amount raised at all the 13 CASA golf outings to nearly $700,000, said Bonnie Wolinski, director of development for the organization.
One hundred fifty-two golfers participated on a perfect day for being outdoors at Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Kildeer. Sponsors of the four person team scramble were Lundbeck, Inc., Deerfield, Underwriters Laboratories, Northbrook and CDW, Vernon Hills. Fortune Brands Home and Security, Vernon Hills, was a Gold Sponsor.
Lunch and dinner, networking opportunities and an auction were a part of the day.
The income from the golf tournament will be applied to CASA’s work of advocating for abused children assigned to them by the juvenile court in making sure the children are healthy, safe, attending school and well cared for. Advocates also are fact-finders for the judges.
Jerry Stricker, a CASA board member and vice president of operations at Underwriters, said “CASA provided a beautiful day of sunshine for the golfers and all of the volunteers that came out to show their support for the children CASA serves. It was a day of sunshine that will brighten the day for so many CASA children.”
The organization has more than 200 adult advocate volunteers who have been trained for this significant volunteer duty and CASA is forming a networking Professional Directors Board of people from ages 25 to 40 who also will help CASA with non advocate responsibilities.
