Highland Park police blotter for Jan. 10 through Jan. 16

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Highland Park Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

BURGLARY

A black London Fog purse containing identification, cash and cosmetics was stolen from a locked vehicle between 4:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Jan. 16 on the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road. A window was smashed to gain entry.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Alfredo Ollua-Mendez, 33, of the 2700 block of St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested at 4:15 p.m. Jan. 11 on the 2700 block of St. Johns Avenue and charged with disorderly conduct. According to the police report, officers were called to the area to break-up a dispute, which later was determined to be a false police report. Ollua-Mendez was released on his own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 8 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.

DAMAGE

Javier Morales-Valencia, 31, of the 700 block of Green Bay Road, Highwood, was arrested at 11:12 a.m. Jan. 11 on the 1700 block of St. Johns Avenue and charged with criminal damage to property. According to the police report, a cell phone was found damaged after police were called to a report of a dispute. Morales-Valencia was released on his own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 3 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.

Two vehicle tires were slashed between 12:15 a.m. and 7 a.m. Jan. 10 while it was parked on the 400 block of Vine Avenue.

Police investigated a delayed report of criminal damage to property Jan. 11 after it was reported that damage has been occurring at the property on the 1300 block of Ridgewood Drive since last summer. A car was reportedly keyed twice; liquids were poured on the car; and a gate was damaged.

DRUGS

Thaddeus Allen, 18, of the 200 block of East Blodgett Avenue, Lake Bluff, was arrested at 9:24 p.m. Jan. 16 on the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police pulled him over and also cited him for allegedly speeding and driving an uninsured vehicle. Allen was released on a cash bond with a court date of Feb. 8 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.

Nathan Glicksberg, 26, of the 1500 block of Old Skokie Road, Highland Park, was arrested at 4:51 p.m. Jan. 16 on the 1500 block of Old Skokie Road and charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana. He also was charged with burglary from a vehicle after police were called to investigate a report of a subject who had unlawfully entered an unlocked vehicle. Glicksberg was transported to bond court at 18 N. County St., Waukegan, pending a future court date.

THEFT

A black and silver Apple iPod Touch was stolen between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Jan. 14 on the 1200 block of Park Avenue West.

Four credit cards, shoes, clothing and keys were reported stolen between 1:30 p.m. and 2:51 p.m. Jan. 14 on the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road.

A Samsung Galaxy cell phone was stolen after it was left unattended between 5:45 p.m. and 6:10 p.m. Jan. 12 on the 700 block of Park Avenue West.

A home’s front door was forcibly pried open between 8:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Jan. 10 on the 700 block of Lorraine Circle. Nothing was reported missing or disturbed inside the home.

Christian Rivera, 19, of the 300 block of Prairie Avenue, Highwood, was arrested at 3:11 p.m. Jan. 10 and charged with theft in connection with a previously reported case of a stolen iPhone. Rivera was released on his own recognizance with a court date of Jan. 25 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.

Tools were stolen from a locked trailer at a construction site some time between 5 p.m. Jan. 9 and 9:52 a.m. Jan. 10 on the 300 block of Orchard Lane.

Police investigated a delayed report of theft Jan. 9 after it was reported that a cell phone was stolen while left unattended on a counter sometime in December on the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road.

TRAFFIC

Jorge Ruiz-Merlos, 42, of the 1600 block of 10th Street, Waukegan, was arrested at 6:59 a.m. Jan. 16 on the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road and charged with driving on a suspended license. He also was cited for allegedly driving an uninsured vehicle and failing to reduce speed to avoid a vehicle accident. Ruiz-Merlos was released on his own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 8 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.

Gilberto Catalan, 31, of the 2100 block of St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested at 5:44 p.m. Jan. 12 at St. Johns and Vine avenues and charged with driving on a revoked license after police were called to the area in response to an accident. Catalan was released on his own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 8 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.

Julio Tenorio, 31, of the 800 block of Edgewood Road, Highland Park, was arrested at 4:40 p.m. Jan. 12 at Green Bay Road and Vine Avenue and charged with driving on a suspended license. He also was cited for allegedly failing to reduce speed in relation to a vehicle accident. Tenorio was released on his own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 8 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.

Isreal Romero-Bahena, 29, of the 400 block of Inland Road, Wheeling, was arrested at 10:25 p.m. Jan. 11 at Clavey and Skokie Valley roads and charged with driving on a suspended license. He also was cited for allegedly driving on suspended registration and without headlights illuminated. Romero-Bahena was released on his own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 22 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.

TRESPASS

Martha Schatz, 49, of the 1000 block of Half Day Road, Highland Park, was arrested at 6:39 p.m. Jan. 14 on the 1000 block of Half Day Road and charged with criminal trespass to property after officers were called to a complaint of a violation of a no-trespass notice. Schatz was transported to bond court at 18 N. County St., Waukegan and released on her own recognizance pending a future court date.

Katherine Anderson, 27, of the 1600 block of Green Bay Road, Highland Park, was arrested at 7:40 p.m. Jan. 11 on the 400 block of Laurel Avenue and charged with criminal trespass to property and interfering with police. Officers were called to the area on a complaint of a violation of a no-trespass notice, police said. Anderson was released on her own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 8 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.
