Highland Park police blotter for Jan. 23, 2012

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Highland Park Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A vehicle’s side window was smashed and its center console rummaged through between 2:45 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Jan. 20. The incident occurred on the 700 block of Park Avenue West. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle.
While investigating the previous report of criminal damage to property on Jan. 21, officers discovered a second vehicle was found with a broken side window. The incident also occurred on the 700 block of Park Avenue West. It’s unknown whether any items were stolen from the vehicle.
Police investigated a delayed report of theft last week in which an Apple iPad was stolen from an unknown location in October.
THEFT
A black leather purse, a jacket from The North Face, a pair of black gloves and a wallet containing a debit card, cash, drivers license, gift cards, checkbook, makeup and car keys were stolen between 5:30 p.m. and 7:36 p.m. Jan. 18 on the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road.
Currency was stolen from a locked file cabinet between Jan. 14 and Jan. 17 on the 1800 block of Second Street.
Police investigated a delayed report of a theft last week in which currency was stolen from an unattended wallet Jan. 13 on the first block of Skokie Valley Road. The currency was later returned and no charges were filed.
DUI
Matthew Moser, 25, of the 3700 block of Tramore Court, Naperville, was arrested at 2:17 a.m. Jan. 22 on the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road and charged with driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. He also was cited for allegedly speeding, driving an uninsured vehicle and following too closely. Moser was released on a cash bond with a court date of March 2 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.
Ted Grochocki, 61, of the 1700 block of Rosemary Road, Highland Park, was arrested at 12:36 a.m. Jan. 22 on the 3300 block of Skokie Valley Road and charged with driving under the influence. He also was cited for allegedly driving an uninsured vehicle, disobeying a traffic signal and illegal lane use. According to the police report, officers were called to the area on a report of a vehicle that almost caused an accident in the area. Grochocki was released on his own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 24 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.
Robert White, 43, of the 2500 block of Bacon Ranch Road, Kileen, Texas, was arrested at 2:39 a.m. Jan. 18 on the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road and charged with driving under the influence. He also was cited for allegedly following too closely and illegal lane use after police received a driving complaint. White was released on his own recognizance with a court date of March 2 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.
TRAFFIC
Reyes Fuentes, 31, of the 600 block of West Washington Avenue, Lake Bluff, was arrested at 6:50 p.m. Jan. 22 on the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road and charged with driving on a suspended license. He also was cited for allegedly driving an uninsured vehicle and failing to properly secure a child in a seat belt. Fuentes was released on his own recognizance with a court date of March 28 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.
Jose Hernandez, 28, of the 800 block of Laurel Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested at 9:57 p.m. Jan. 17 at Hickory Street and Deerfield Road and charged with driving on a suspended license. He also was cited for allegedly driving while on a cell phone, driving an uninsured vehicle and illegal lane use. Hernandez was released on his own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 22 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.
Alfredo Campuzano, 26, of the 6100 block of North Oakley Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 5:05 a.m. Jan. 17 on the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road and charged with driving on a suspended license. He also was cited for allegedly driving an uninsured vehicle, speeding and illegal use of registration. Campuzano was released on a cash bond with a court date of Feb. 8 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.
