The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Highland Park Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
ALCOHOL
Nathan Echt, 18, of the 2900 block of Priscilla Avenue, Highland Park, was written an administrative citation at 8:47 p.m. Jan. 27 on the 500 block of Audubon Place for alleged underage consumption of alcohol. According to the police report, officers investigated a suspicious activity call in the area. Echt was given an administrative court date of Feb. 16 at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park.
BURGLARY
Cash and a credit card were stolen from an unlocked vehicle around 4:30 a.m. Jan. 29 on the 1300 block of Ridge Road.
A wallet containing cash and several credit cards was stolen from an unlocked vehicle between Jan. 28 and Jan. 29 on the 1200 block of Ridgewood Drive. It was found later that fraudulent charges were made on the credit cards.
A garage door opener was stolen from a vehicle between 7 p.m. Jan. 28 and 9:30 p.m. Jan. 29 on the 200 block of Sumac Road. The vehicle was likely left unlocked, as there were no signs of forced entry.
DAMAGE
A vehicle’s side windows and both headlights were smashed out between 3 p.m. Jan. 28 and 9 a.m. Jan. 29 on the 2600 block of Waukegan Avenue. Nothing was reported taken from the vehicle.
Three of a vehicle’s four tires were punctured between 1 p.m. Jan. 27 and 5 a.m. Jan. 28 on the 900 block of North Avenue.
DRUGS
John Wolfe, 67, of the 1700 block of Rosemary Road, Highland Park, was arrested at 5:24 p.m. Jan. 24 and charged three days later with unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance and forgery. According to the police report, officers made the arrest after investigating a report that someone was writing forged prescriptions on prescription pads that were not prescribed. Wolfe was released on a cash bond with a court date of Feb. 10 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.
THEFT
Police investigated a report of theft Jan. 25 after a motorist drove off without paying for 14 gallons of gasoline. The incident occurred on the 700 block of Central Avenue.
Police are investigating a delayed report of theft in which scrap metal was being stolen from a trailer about once a week. The most recent incident occurred between Jan. 24 and Jan. 25 on the 1500 block of Old Skokie Road.
Police are investigating a delayed report of theft related to the fraudulent purchase of $90 worth of gasoline. According to the police report, the gas was purchased at 5:41 p.m. Dec. 12 at a gas station on the first block of Skokie Valley Road. The credit card was later found canceled and reported lost or stolen.
DUI
Rudy Malnati, 55, of the 800 block of North Dewitt Place, Chicago, was arrested at 3:45 a.m. Jan. 29 and charged with driving under the influence. He also was cited for alleged illegal lane use after being stopped on the 1800 block of Half Day Road. Malnati was released on a cash bond with a court date of Feb. 24 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.
Neftali Lopez, 37, of the 2400 block of North Harding Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 11:35 p.m. Jan. 28 and charged with driving under the influence and driving with an open container of alcohol after a traffic stop on the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road. Lopez also was cited for allegedly speeding and driving an uninsured vehicle. Lopez was released on his own recognizance with a court date of March 23 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.
Kenyatta Moore, 38, of the 2500 block of North Harding Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 11:09 p.m. Jan. 27 and charged with driving under the influence. According to the police report, officers responded to a driving complaint and subsequently found the vehicle disabled on the 1400 block of Deerfield Road. Moore was released on her own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 17 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.
Matthew Cluck, 24, of the 800 block of South May Street, Chicago, was arrested at 12:10 a.m. Jan. 27 and charged with driving under the influence. He also was cited for allegedly speeding, illegal lane use and driving an uninsured vehicle after a stop on the 100 block of the Edens Expressway. Cluck was released on his own recognizance with a court date of March 9 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.
TRAFFIC
Zeleiny Porcayo, 24, of the 2800 block of Navajo Road, Waukegan, was arrested at 10:06 a.m. Jan. 26 and charged with driving on a suspended license after police were called to a two-car accident near Park Avenue West and Skokie Valley Road. Porcayo was released on a cash bond with a court date of Feb. 22 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.
Marcy McKenny, 38, of the 1900 block of West Berteau Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24 and charged with driving on a suspended license. She also was cited for allegedly disobeying a traffic control device following a stop on the 800 block of Central Avenue. McKenny was released on her own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 8 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.
Mattew Cusack, 21, of the 4400 block of North Keokuk Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 7:54 p.m. Jan. 23 and charged with driving on a suspended license. He also was cited for two alleged headlight violations after a stop on the 1000 block of Central Avenue. Cusack was released on his own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 8 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.
Aaron Naylor, 31, of the 1800 block of Oklahoma Avenue, Great Lakes, was arrested at 4:25 p.m. Jan. 23 and charged with reckless driving for allegedly speeding 40 mph over the limit. He also was cited for alleged illegal lane use after a stop near Skokie Valley and Deerpath roads in Lake Forest. Naylor was released on his own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 22 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.
TRESPASSING
Police investigated a report of a criminal trespass to a vehicle Jan. 29 on the 1000 block of Lincoln Avenue South. According to the police report, a suspicious activity complaint was filed after an unknown subject attempted to enter a parked vehicle. Upon opening the car door, the report stated, the alarm system sounded and the subjects left the area. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle.
