Highland Park police blotter for Jan. 30 through Feb. 6

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Highland Park Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

BURGLARY

Patrick Castellanos, 18, of the 2100 block of St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park, and Alan Rodriguez, 18, of the 2700 block of Lauretta Place, Highland Park, were both arrested Feb. 2 stemming from an investigation of several reported auto burglaries that occurred between Jan. 27 and Jan. 29. Rodriguez was charged with financial identity theft, two counts of burglary and unlawful use of a credit card. Castellanos was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, financial identity theft, two counts of burglary and unlawful use of a credit card. Castellanos and Rodriguez were transported to bond court at 18 N. County St., Waukegan, pending a future court date.

Police investigated a delayed report of a burglary to a vehicle Jan. 31 in which a cell phone, iPad, cigarettes, and two pairs of sunglasses were stolen on the evening of Jan. 29. The incident occurred on the 1000 block of Lincoln Avenue South. According to the police report, the vehicle was left unlocked, and no forced entry was made.

While investigating a previous report of a burglary to a vehicle Jan. 31, officers found a second vehicle was hit and its GPS navigation system stolen. The incident occurred on the 300 block of Barberry Road. The vehicle was left unlocked, according to the report, and no forced entry was made.

Electronics, including two laptop computers, one e-reader and two iPods, were stolen from a home between 8 a.m. and 9:25 p.m. Jan. 31 on the 500 block of Burton Avenue. Police found sings of forced entry to a locked rear basement door.

Sunglasses and a garage door opener were stolen from an unlocked vehicle between 12:30 a.m. Jan. 28 and 6:30 a.m. Jan. 30 on the 900 block of Bob-O-Link Road. There were no signs of forced entry.

A GPS navigation system was stolen from a vehicle between 9 p.m. Jan. 28 and 11 a.m. Jan. 29 on the 300 block of Barberry Road. The vehicle was left unlocked and no forced entry was made.

A Bluetooth device was stolen from a vehicle between 4 p.m. Jan. 27 and 7 a.m. Jan. 30 on the 1300 block of Ridge Road. Police stated that the vehicle was left unlocked and no forced entry was made.

An iPhone was stolen from a vehicle on Jan. 25 on the 1800 block of Second Street. The vehicle was left unlocked.

DAMAGE

Daniel Struck, 46, of the 1700 block of Cavell Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested at 1:04 p.m. Feb. 5 and charged with criminal damage to property after police responded to a traffic altercation near the intersection of Cavell Avenue and Park Avenue West. Struck was released on his own recognizance with a court date of March 14 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.

Police investigated a report of graffiti tagged onto property Jan. 30 on the 2000 block of Sheridan Road.

DRUGS

Matthew Maka, 18, of the 700 block of Ringland Road, Riverwoods, was arrested at 12:59 a.m. Feb. 3 on the 2600 block of Logan Street and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Maka was released on his own recognizance with a court date of March 3 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.

THEFT

Police investigated a delayed report of theft Feb. 5 in which jewelry was stolen sometime on Feb. 1, but was discovered upon packing up belongings four days later. The incident occurred on the 300 block of Walker Avenue.

An iPhone was stolen between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Jan. 30 from the 400 block of Vine Ave.

A North Face jacket and cash were stolen between 9:45 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. Feb. 1 on the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road.

An unknown subject entered a storage shed by prying off a padlock and stole a Trek bicycle between Dec. 15 and 4:15 p.m. Feb. 2 on the 1000 block of Marion Avenue.

DUI

Felix Martinez-Zeferino, 21, of the 1600 block of Hickory Street, Highland Park, was arrested at 1:32 a.m. Feb. 6 on the 1200 block of Park Avenue West and charged with driving under the influence. He also was cited for allegedly driving without a valid drivers license and running a stop sign. Martinez-Zeferino was released on his own recognizance with a court date of March 9 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.

Leonard Smith, 65, of the 9700 block of Woods Drive, Skokie, was arrested at 12:23 a.m. Feb. 5 on the 300 block of the Edens Expressway and charged with driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. He also was cited for alleged illegal lane use. Smith was released on his own recognizance with a court date of March 16 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.

Piotr Filipek, 42, of the first block of Broadleys Court, Bannockburn, was arrested at 10:55 p.m. Feb. 4 on the 1400 block of Half Day Road and charged with driving under the influence. He also was cited for allegedly speeding, driving an uninsured vehicle and illegal lane use. Filipek was released on a cash bond with a court date of March 16 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.

Maurizio Perrelli, 30, of the 1000 block of Half Day Road, Highland Park, was arrested at 3:13 a.m. Feb. 4 on the 1200 block of Park Avenue West and charged with driving under the influence. He also was cited for allegedly speeding and failing to wear a seat belt. Perrelli was released on his own recognizance with a court date of March 2 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.

TRAFFIC

Edith Martinez, 36, of the 500 block of Michigan Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested at 11:49 a.m. Feb. 5 on the 1800 block of Green Bay Road and charged with driving on a suspended license. She also was cited for allegedly driving an uninsured vehicle and disobeying a traffic control device. Martinez was released on a cash bond with a court date of Feb. 20 at 18 N. County St., Waukegan.

Shaquita Lacy, 26, of the 3600 block of North 41st Street, Milwaukee, Wis., was arrested at 8:50 p.m. Feb. 3 on the 600 block of Skokie Valley Road and charged with driving on a suspended license. She also was cited for alleged illegal lane use. Lacy was released on a cash bond with a court date of March 28 at 301 S. Greenleaf Ave., Park City.

Grant Schlidy-Meyer, 44, of the 1900 block of N. Brookfield, Brookfield, Wis., was arrested at 1:09 a.m. Feb. 1 on the 2100 block of Skokie Valley Road and charged with driving on a suspended license. He also was cited for allegedly speeding. Schlidy-Meyer was released on his own recognizance with a court date of Feb. 22 at 301 Greenleaf Ave., Park City.

TRESPASS

Alfredo Ollua-Mendez, 33, of the 200 block of East Seegers, Arlington Heights, was arrested at 6:02 a.m. Feb. 4 on the 2700 block of St. Johns Avenue and charged with criminal trespass to a residence. Ollua-Mendez also was charged with violating an order of protection. Ollua-Mendez was transported to bond court at 18 N. County St., Waukegan, pending a future court date.
