Highland Park Police blotter, week of Sept. 17

The following incidents were listed in the official reports of the Highland Park police department. Readers are reminded that an arrest by police does not constitute a finding of guilt; only a court of law can make that determination.

DUI

A 60-year-old Highland Park woman was charged with driving under the influence and other traffic violations after a stop Sept. 10 near Deerfield Road and Richfield Avenue. Marcie Wender, of the 1600 block of Sherwood Road, is to appear in court Oct. 19.

Zechariah Kirscher, 25, of the 1600 block of Second Street, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and other violations after a Sept. 15 stop near Central Avenue and Hickory Street. His court date is Oct. 19.

A traffic stop Sept. 15 on Skokie Valley Road resulted in charges of driving under the influence and other violations against a 39-year-old Blue Island man. Cornelius Anyere, of the 12500 block of Fairview Avenue, also was charged with transporting open alcohol and speeding. Anyere is due in court Oct. 19.

RECKLESS DRIVING

A Wisconsin man led Highland Park police on a chase Sept. 14 that resulted in felony charges. Marshall Wolbers, 57, of Genoa City, was charged with fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving and disobeying a traffic control device, as well as driving while license suspended. Police attempted to stop Wolbers on the 1500 block of Deerfield Road. Wolbers’ court date is Oct. 24.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

A Bell radar detector was stolen from an unlocked car on the 2500 block of Highmoor Road some time between noon Sept. 7 and 1 p.m. Sept. 9.

Someone smashed the front passenger-side window on a car parked on the 1200 block of Park Avenue West on Sept. 11. A purse was removed from the floor on the front, right passenger’s side.

A home stereo system was stolen Sept. 12 from an unlocked vehicle on the 3100 block of Murphy Road. The vehicle was parked in a residential driveway. The burglary occurred between 1 and 3:50 p.m.

THEFT

Police are investigating a report that money may have been taken from a wallet at a party Sept. 9 on the 1900 block of Burr Oaks Lane.

A Coach purse was reported stolen from a car on the 1300 block of Clavey Road between 5:35 and 6 p.m. Sept. 14. The purse was on the back seat of a car that was locked, but had a window rolled down.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT

A 1999 dump truck and trailer with landscaping equipment was stolen Sept. 12 from a storage area on the 1500 block of Old Deerfield Road.

The truck contained two commercial lawn mowers, a leaf blower and other items.
