Highland Park police blotter for Dec. 11

The following incidents were listed in the official reports of the Highland Park Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest by police does not constitute a finding of guilt; only a court of law can make that determination.
Highland Park
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
Benjamin Schenk, 19, of the 0 to 100 block of Wainwright St., Highland Park, was charged Tuesday, Dec. 4, with aggravated assault and burglary to a motor vehicle after police responded to a report of an attempted car break-in on the 300 block of Walker Avenue. His court date is pending.
DUI
Ann Singer, 76, of the 300 block of Green Bay Road, Highland Park, was charged Tuesday, Dec. 4, with driving under the influence in connection with an accident involving a parked car on the 600 block of Elm Place. She also was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage. Her court date is Dec. 28.
Emanuel Fitzpatrick Jr., 41, of the 5700 block of Columbus Ave., Hammond, Ind., was charged Tuesday, Dec. 4, with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and driving on a suspended license. Police arrested Fitzpatrick after a traffic stop on the 300 block of Skokie Valley Road. He is due in court Jan. 13.
James Hamilton, 67, of the 1200 block of Darrow Ave., Evanston, was charged Thursday, Dec. 6, with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and open transportation of alcohol following a traffic stop on the 3300 block of Skokie Valley Road. His court date is Dec. 28.
Norma Cardenas-Casarrubias, 25, of the 2500 block of 24th Place, North Chicago, was charged Sunday, Dec. 9, with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. The arrest came after police responded to a report that a vehicle had struck a garage on the 600 block of Glenview Avenue. Cardenas-Casarrubias also was charged with open transportation of alcohol, no valid drivers’ license and speeding. She is due in court Dec. 28.
THEFT
Mikol Mendes, 49, of the 2300 block of Duffy Lane, Riverwoods, was charged Sunday, Dec. 9, with retail theft after police responded to a shoplifting report on the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road. Mendes’ court date is pending.
