HIGHLAND PARK — Highland Park police say numerous firearms and loaded ammunition magazines were stolen from a Ferndale Avenue residence Friday, Jan. 18, by one or more intruders who forced entry to the residence in west Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report the residence on the 1200 block of Ferndale Avenue was entered between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. by applying a blunt object to a side door. Jewelry also was taken.

A second home on the 1300 block of Ferndale Avenue also was burglarized by force the same day. According to police, the home was entered between 5 and 10:30 p.m. by applying a tool to the back door. In that burglary, numerous jewelry items and two holiday-themed pillowcases were taken.

Police also are investigating a separate residential burglary that occurred Thursday, Jan. 17, in the southeast section of the city, not far from the Ravinia Festival grounds.

Some time between 8 and 11 a.m., someone broke a window on the rear door of the home on the 0 to 100 block of Lakeside Place and took an LCD television, jewelry and china.
