The Howard Brown Health Center held its signature fundraising event, “Garden of Eve” at the River East Art Center on Sept. 13. The fifth annual event brought together 450 Chicagoans and raised more than $85,000 to provide health services to uninsured women. The evening featured food provided by George Jewell Catering, a silent auction and music provided by DJ Nevin and DJ Gloria.
During the party, HBHC honored the founders of the Lesbian Community Cancer Project with its Friend for Life Award, given to individuals and entities for their commitment, persistent advocacy and dedication of time and resources to promote the health and wellness of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. Award recipients were Jackie Anderson, Corinne Kawecki, Suzanne Kraus, Nancy Lanoue, Mary McCauley and Maureen Sweeney. For more information, see howardbrown.org
