They call her “Sky.”
And right now, Megan Skylar Perna is seeing nothing but blue skies.
The Deerfield soccer player, who played her club ball with Eclipse Select, has announced that she will sign a national letter of intent with UW-Milwaukee.
No doubt, the sky is the limit with the Panthers women’s soccer team. The team, ranked No. 15 in the country, went 19-3-0 this past fall, winning the Horizon League and losing 2-1 to Ohio State in the second round of the NCAA Division I tournament. Their star player, Sarah Hagen, was taken in the first round (fifth pick overall) of the 2012 Women’s Professional Soccer Draft by the Philadelphia Independence.
Perna, a senior, is a highly regarded player. She’s ranked No. 13 in the Midwest by TopDrawersoccer.com.
She’s a versatile player. Perna started out as a winger for Eclipse but then was moved — out of team necessity — to left back.
