Skating: Starlights off to Italy to compete in Spring Cup

The Starlights, a Buffalo Grove-based synchronized skating team, will compete in the 2012 Spring Cup, to be held in Sesto San Giovanni, Italy, Friday through Sunday.

Competing in last month’s 2012 Synchronized Midwestern Sectional, the Starlights placed second. The squad also finished sixth in the recent U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships, and fifth in the 2011 Mozart Cup.

The Starlights, coached by Heather Paige, represents the Skokie Valley SC, and is sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating.

The season continues with the 2012 Synchronized Skating Championships, to be held in Worcester, Mass., Feb. 28 to March 3.
